Dear Angelic, you are probably thinking that a number in the 1200's appearing on the base of your stein is the date. It is not. Steins generally came into use in the 15th/16th century, and porcelain was not made in Europe until 1715. You will need to provide a photo of this piece in order to get help identifying it.
