Meeting Minutes - May 3, 2009, Orchard Vali Golf & Country Club

President Bill Hamer called the meeting to order at 12:50  pm.  20 members were in attendance.  The reading of the minutes of the October 2008 meeting was waived as everyone had a chance to read them in  the “Stein Crier”.  Minutes were accepted as published.  

Treasurer Ginger Hoeppner’s report showed a balance of $  1561.90 and was approved as read.

     10/05  Cash Balance on hand:   $ 1424.27
                Income:                        $   831.00
                Expenses:                    $   693.37 
     05/07   Cash Balance on hand:  $ 1561.90

OLD Business.                NONE

NEW Business:       Discussion centered around the need of attracting new members to the club.

Dick Milewski suggested advertising in several small regional newspapers as we approach the date of our next meeting. President Hamer states the treasury could handle the cost if it is within reason ( Approx $ 100.00 ) Dick volunteers to spearhead this project.

Bob Lindstrom describes a brochure that the Thoroughbred Stein Verein of Kentucky uses. It is a one page brochure folded in thirds that outlines club information and can be passed out at various functions ( antique shows, antique shops etc. ) Bob to look into modifying this flyer for our use.

Show & Tell :    President Bill Hamer talked about a faience stein that appeared in his recent article of Prosit. It is a “Popplesdorff” piece from around 1800 and features a nativity scene which includes very rare “Moorish” character.

The door prize of  a year’s free membership to SCI  was won by  Barb Zabinski  

50/50 drawing was won by   Barb Zabinski

Our speaker for this meeting was Rick Grunin from Falmouth , Mass. who gave an amazing presentation on beautiful Royal Vienna type steins.
