Rental Policy

The Beer Stein Museum Research Library and Archive

All holdings of the Stein Collectors International Research Library and Archives are available on loan for research purposes by any current member of SCI within the following guidelines:

FREE SERVICE: Except for returnable deposits, all library services are free to the members of SCI, as long as contributions continue to exceed expenses.

DURATION: All loans are for a period of 30 days.

TEXTS: All texts which are deemed replaceable are available on loan to all current members of SCI.

A. A rental agreement shall be signed by the borrower prior to the mailing of all texts.
B. All mailing and insurance costs will be paid by the borrower.
1. All requests for loans must include a deposit of $5.00 per book. This is a deposit only and will be returned when the book is returned to the library.
2. Return of all texts with insurance to be the obligation of the borrower.
C. All texts shall have a predetermined return date, and a return mailing label will be included with your order.
D. Any text that is deemed irreplaceable will not be subject to loan, but may be researched for the member by the Research Librarian at no cost.
E. Any book damaged, lost or unreturned will be subject to payment of its full price by the borrower.

TAPES: All tapes which are deemed replaceable are available on loan to all current members of SCI.

A. A rental agreement shall be signed by the borrower prior to the mailing of all tapes.
B. All mailing and insurance costs will be paid by the borrower.
   1. Tapes will be mailed in a special container, which will include a mailing label for return of the tapes to the Research Library.
   2. Borrower should use the same container for return of the tape and pay for return of the tape (using Special Fourth Class postage rate, if desired).
   3. Cost of tapes is currently $3.00 each. This is a deposit only and will be returned when the tapes are returned to the library.
   4. All tapes shall have a predetermined return date.
   5. Any tape returned damaged, or not returned, will be subject to payment of full price of $13.00 by the borrower.
   6. Please rewind all tapes before returning.

MAPS: All maps in the Museum Archives are available, on loan. There is a deposit of $2.00 per map required, returnable when the map is returned to the library.

ARTICLES: Copies of all articles in the Museum Archives will be available free of charge.
